Configuration Framework

The app.config file is one of the least usable parts of the .NET framework:
  • An application is not necessarily made of a single executable. When the application is made of multiple executables (for example the database connection strings,) configuration information must be modified in each individual app.config file.
  • An application may require a single executable file to be launched multiple times, each time with a different configuration

The configuration framework provides ways to automatically build the app.config file from different parts.
